What to expect at your shoot

MAKEOVER: Get ready for a fabulous vintage makeover! We specialize in looks inspired by the timeless hairstyles and makeup of the 1940s and 1950s. If you have any specific makeup or hairstyle requests, please let us know. If you have curly hair, we can either shoot with its natural texture or you can straighten it beforehand to create a base for vintage hairstyling.

CLOTHES: Come play in our closet! We’ll pull outfits in your size for you to try on once you arrive. We recommend bringing at least a couple of outfits from home — it’s always good to have options.

SHOES: Here’s your chance to immortalize your fabulous but barely-walkable heels! We also have a lovely collection of heels available for client use.

THE SHOOT: We know that being in front of the camera can be scary, and we’re here to help you every step of the way. We’ll plot out poses, angles, and lighting to bring out your best, and we’ll lead you through each shot to make sure we get the images just right.

GUESTS: We have a no-guest policy because we find that flying solo helps our models focus on themselves & get the best images.

YOUR IMAGES: After the shoot, we know you’ll be eager to see your images. One week from your shoot date, we’ll email you a password-protected link to your online proof gallery. Now you get to select your favorite images for expert retouching and finishing! You will choose the free images included in your package and can also order as many additional images from your gallery as you like. Just a heads up that the retouching process takes about 3 weeks from the order date for final images to be complete. Prints or photo gifts take about 6 weeks from the order date, so order early if you have a special date in mind. Rush orders are also available if needed. Can’t wait to create amazing images for you!

Photo Shoot Checklist: What to bring

CHECK LIST: What to bring

1. Clothes and/or your best lingerie depending on the look you’re going for. We don’t provide underwear/panties so make sure to bring some options if you think you might want undies showing in your shots.

2. Regardless of what other clothing you bring, also pack basic undergarments: a black bra & black panties (thongs are preferable to avoid lines) and a nude bra & nude panties. Got Spanx? Bring ’em, too!

3. Shoes! Shoes!  Shoes!

4. Snacks! Modeling is a lot of work (think pilates meets acting class) and you’ll want hydration and nourishment along the way.

Studio Policies

CANCELLATIONS / RESCHEDULING:

Your shoot deposit of $200 is non-refundable. With 15 days notice, your deposit may be applied toward a rescheduled session within 30 days of your original shoot date. However, if less than 15 days notice is provided, the deposit is forfeited and cannot be applied toward a future date.

PAYMENT

Your shoot balance is due in full no later than one week before your shoot.​ For extra images or prints, payment is due before retouching work can begin. Payment plans can be arranged for any of our services, however we cannot send final images before full payment has been received. Please contact us if you have any questions or concerns about payments.

IN THE STUDIO:

a) Late arrival will mean less time in front of the camera.

b) We have a no-guest policy during the shoot, as we find that flying solo helps our models focus on themselves & get the best images.

c) No drugs or alcohol, as this can affect the quality of the images.

d) Pets may be incorporated into a shoot, but prior notice must be given to the photographer and the pet must arrive during the final 20 minutes of the shoot.

e) Tips for your stylists and shoot assist team are not required or expected, but are gladly accepted if you feel you received exceptional service.

DELIVERY OF FINAL IMAGES: You will receive your private online proof gallery within one week after your shoot. After you select images for retouching and have placed your order, you will receive your final digital images in approximately 3 weeks. If you choose to order prints with your digital image order, they will arrive approximately 2 weeks after your final digital images. If you need final prints for a special occasion, take note that normal final delivery is 6-8 weeks out from your shoot date. If you require images sooner, please contact Shameless about a rush order.

IMAGE USE: We never, under any circumstances, share client images without explicit and enthusiastic client permission. If you wish, your images can be kept completely private and seen by no one else but you and your photographer. If you DO decide to go public with your images, then it is possible you may be featured on the Shameless website, in art exhibits, or in magazines.

Shameless holds the copyright on all of our images, and our packages include personal usage rights only. Commercial usage rights are available for purchase — please contact us for details.

We are at the York stop off of the F train.

Please call Angela at (248) 807-0122 when you arrive and we will come let you in. It’s a walk up with 3 flights of stairs — let us know if this presents any difficulty for you. We are more than happy to help with carrying any bags.

PARKING (New York)

Please be careful to pay attention to parking signs, sometimes they are down the block and not easy to see.

There are also two nearby parking garages:

Manhattan Parking at 100 Jay St (718) 855-2851. They are about 3 blocks away near the corner of Front and Jay St. They charge $15 for up to 12 hours.

Park Kwik at 20 Jay street (718) 254-9141. It’s just around the corner from the studio near Jay and John St. They charge $24 for up to 10 hours.

Self Care & Preparation for your shoot

In the final days before your shoot, we invite you to begin the pinup transformation by pampering yourself. We recommend getting lots of sleep, eating great food, staying hydrated, and making time for self care — maybe taking a bubble bath, getting a mani-pedi, whatever makes you feel beautiful and relaxed.

We ask that you please arrive on time, but not early to your appointment, as we’ll be setting up for you before that time. Late arrival will mean less time in front of the camera, so we appreciate your punctuality.
